Abilene: A Town of Winners and Home of the Corporate Olympics
Abilene, a town known for its winning spirit and thriving local businesses, continually demonstrates community support through various causes. As the Senior Sales Director for the Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau, an affiliate of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, I am privileged to witness this camaraderie on a daily basis.
In celebration of this spirit and to support an important cause, the Abilene Sports Alliance proudly announces the return of the Corporate Olympics for its second year. This exciting fundraiser benefits local high school athletes through our scholarship program and promotes events that generate overnight stays via our grant program. Abilene’s second Corporate Olympics will take place on October 5th and 7th and is open to any local business interested in participating.
The Competitive Lineup
The diverse and entertaining range of events includes:
- 3-on-3 Basketball
- Co-ed Volleyball
- Axe Throwing
- Beer Relay
- Golf (a new addition this year)
These events will be hosted at various locations such as the Dodge Jones Youth Sports Center, Abilene Country Club, Abilene Axe Company, Performance Lab, Mulligans, and Matera Bar & Grill.
Let the Games Begin!
The event will commence with an Opening Ceremony at Mulligans on October 5th. After two days of fierce competition and team bonding, the festivities will conclude with a Closing Ceremony on October 7th at Matera Bar & Grill. The Corporate Olympics provide a unique and enjoyable way for local businesses to come together and build stronger connections within their teams.
Abilene: A Growing Sports Tourism Destination
The sports tourism market is a rapidly expanding segment of the travel industry, and Abilene has already gained a positive reputation in this arena. The Corporate Olympics not only highlight the town’s winning spirit but also showcase the many impressive facilities and attractions that Abilene has to offer. Sports tourism market contributes over $16 million to the local Abilene economy each year.

The committee works to increase participation of existing events, establish new sporting events and tournaments, and offer annual scholarships to local athletes. To date, more than $165,000 in scholarship monies have been awarded to local athletes and over $100,000 granted to local sporting events.
