Making the complicated simple, and the simple powerful

November 4, 2019Doug Peters, President and CEO of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce

We’re just over a month into the Chamber’s new fiscal year, and if you’ve been around the Chamber lately, chances are you’ve heard the phrase from your Chairman, Darrin Black, “Back to Basics.”

Under Darrin’s leadership, your board unveiled their year-long focus with “Back to Basics” serving as the mantra.

But, what does that mean for you?

I’ve stated before that our focus is steady and always intended to benefit this community, but under the “Back to Basics” mantra and Darrin Black’s leadership we’re going to ensure we’re brilliant with the basics of helping your business. That’s why we’re beefing up ways to provide you opportunities to grow your business, operate your business effectively, and train and educate company representatives.

You can expect in the coming year to see a lot of focus on training and education for your company, but first we’re kicking off the “Back to Basics” mindset with a seminar that has been one of the most impactful of my 30 year career.

Thanks to our friends at Lawrence Hall – Abilene, we’re bringing in one of the most impactful communicators I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing, Bill Graham. Bill helps professionals become more impactful communicators by helping people find their stories and deliver valuable messages. Whether you’re in sales, customer service or communications, I can promise you that you’ll find value in his seminar.

Bill has over a decade of experience as Director of Creative Affairs for a little production company known as Procter and Gamble and has spent over a decade working on soap operas such as Guiding Light, As the World Turns, and Another World.

The event takes place at Texas State Technical College (TSTC) on E Hwy 80 on Nov. 20 from 1:00-4:30 pm. And, let me tell you why you should attend.
