Chamber Unveils New, Improved Online Presence

October 26, 2018Doug Peters, President & CEO of the Abilene Chamber of Commerce

Before I get started, I have a request.

If you’ve not “Liked” the Chamber’s Facebook page yet, please take a moment to do so. More and more, that particular page is becoming a sure-fire go-to source for information for our members and others. To make it easy, simply CLICK HERE to access the page! Feel free to recommend it to your friends, too.

Now that that shameless promotion is behind us, how many of you are planners? How many of you when you’re checking out a new place to visit, the first thing you do is turn to Google?

I know I do, and with technology becoming more and more prevalent for many who are seeking a place to visit or a place to relocate, that “search” begins online.

Our story for many begins online at the Chamber’s website. We’ve listened to the needs and wants of our community and potential residents and understand that our story now needs to be told on a number of different platforms including social media, email marketing, as well as our website.

With the help of Zachry Sites, a division of Abilene’s own Zachry Associates, the Chamber’s ready to face the world with a new, fresh and relevant online presence. The Chamber is pleased to officially launch a new state of the art, world-class website to showcase the Chamber organization, our affiliates, and our Abilene community to the world.

I invite you to visit www.abilenechamber.com and explore for yourself.

A website that shares our story with a modern design is not only important for economic development, but it’s also important to give value to you, our member. The enhanced site promises the following for all who visit:

–  Easier access to Chamber News
–  Advertising space availability exclusively for members on the highest traffic pages of our website
–  Additional sponsor recognition on the homepage
–  Member News
–  Member Hosted Events
–  Prime recognition for Gold Star Investors
–  Easy access to Tools for Business
–  AbileneWorks.com – our Abilene-centric jobs portal for Abilene employers

For those considering Abilene – whether it be for business relocation, a day visit, an arts event or a lifetime, all the information they need is now available at the tips of their fingers. We’ve also included our award-winning Tools for Business, which provides unlimited resources for those seeking to start, expand or in need of management resources.

Accessing our affiliates has never been easier, either. In one place, you can now access the Abilene Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB), the Abilene Cultural Affairs Council (ACAC), our Abilene Industrial Affairs Council (AIF), our Abilene Downtown Initiative and more of the work that we do for you, our member.

In order to adequately portray how great our community is and to compete for workforce, it is essential that we stay relevant and up-to-date in new digital trends. The new website has a modern design complete with video, animation, updated colors, and easy access to a number of different community highlights, including our members. We firmly believe that it will be the place for our community to gather information about our work and allow us to show the Chamber as purposeful, transparent and strategic in our day-to-day activities.

From my own selfish perspective, I want anyone who’s looking for what you do, to find you first on the Chamber’s website. Need a plumber? New car? Attorney or CPA? How about daycare or even a church?  Shop Chamber members first, and Abilene wins. Be sure to check out the members tab where we strive to constantly promote our members to other members, consumers and the world at-large.

For 110 years, the Abilene Chamber of Commerce has had a continuing mission of developing and promoting the economy and quality of life in the Abilene area. As you know, we accomplish our mission through business advocacy, economic development and maintaining the “image” of Abilene as the place to be for future and current workforce, businesses and residents.

Please take a look and let us know your thoughts.  And while you’re at it, take a moment to share the site with a friend or two.

Oh! And don’t forget to “Like” us on Facebook!

Thank you for your support and for helping the Chamber to drive opportunity and progress for our community.

Onward!
Doug
