MISSION
Create a community entrepreneurial atmosphere that fosters communication of ideas, networking, educational opportunities, and assistance programs including management expertise, technical assistance and business guidance. Recognize outstanding small businesses that exemplify high standards and are worthy of emulation.

BUSINESS EXPO 2007/DYESS VENDOR FAIR

  • Conduct the 23 rd annual Business Expo to provide an environment in which local businesses can network, receive greater community visibility, and market their goods and/or services
  • Conduct the Dyess Vendor Fair at Dyess AFB to give our military the opportunity to learn more about products and services from the Abilene business community and to increase purchases from local businesses

 BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Continue to hold meetings with business owners to help stay aware of their business needs and concerns
  • Continue the quarterly lunches with new members to provide networking opportunities with other Chamber members and the Abilene Business Council to increase their involvement
  • Communicate the value of business growth and work with all local media partners to better inform and promote Abilene and the area businesses

 BUSINESS SALUTE

  • On a quarterly basis recognize a business that has exhibited staying power, created jobs, shown innovation in the provision of their product or service, and contributed to the community

BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR/CORPORATE BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

  • Recognize a distinguished business person who has had long-term business success and contributed significantly to the quality of life for all individuals in our community
  • Recognize a corporate citizen of the year for their contributions to the community and promoting the quality of life and the business
 BUY BIG COUNTRY FIRST
  • Expand the Buy Big Country ~ Shop the Friendly Frontier campaign to increase awareness of the benefits of keeping our dollars in the area to include a more regional concept to the campaign and the inclusions of a government "Buy Big Country" program

 JOB SHADOW PROGRAM

  • Continue to expand the college Job Shadow Program to include students from all areas of higher education, Abilene Christian University , Hardin-Simmons University , McMurry University , Texas State Technical College, Cisco Junior College and Texas Tech University , helping to bring students and the business community together.
