I am filled with immense pride and gratitude as I share with you a recent milestone for our beloved city. Last week, Abilene had the distinct honor of hosting the Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus Winter Conference at the Doubletree Abilene Downtown Convention Center Hotel. It is the first time Abilene has hosted this event.

The annual conference brought together 150 dedicated tourism professionals from all over Texas, contributing an estimated $111,000 to local businesses. It was not just an economic success, but a heartwarming display of the warmth and hospitality that defines Abilene.

The two-day conference was filled with educational sessions that delved into marketing, sales, and leadership. These sessions were more than just meetings; they were opportunities for learning, growth, and connection. The insights and strategies shared will undoubtedly help elevate the tourism efforts across our state.

I must express my profound pride and appreciation for Tiffany Nichols, a key member of the ACVB team who serves on the TACVB Board of Directors. Tiffany's involvement in the education committee was instrumental in crafting a conference that was informative and enriching for conference attendees.

The event kicked off with heartfelt opening remarks from Mayor Weldon Hurt, setting a tone of enthusiasm and collaboration. I had the privilege of participating in three panels, discussing crucial topics like hotel/CVB relations, destination branding, and multigenerational leadership. It was a rewarding experience to share my experience and engage in thoughtful dialogue with our industry peers.

The success of this event would not have been possible without the exceptional efforts of the entire ACVB staff & ACVB board member volunteers. Their dedication to showcasing genuine West Texas hospitality was on display throughout the conference. Attendees weren't just participants; they were welcomed into the heart of the Abilene community, creating memories that will resonate far beyond the conference walls.

In Abilene, we don't just host events; we create experiences that resonate and leave lasting impressions. We take pride in our city and are committed to ensuring every visitor cherishes their time here.

If you're involved in an industry association or trade organization and are considering a location for your next conference, I encourage you to think of Abilene. Our flourishing downtown, modern facilities, and most importantly, our welcoming community spirit, provide the perfect setting for a successful and memorable event.

The ACVB team is happy to help in every way possible. For more information or to start planning your event, please call us at 325-676-2556 or come by the T&P Depot. We would love to meet you.
